Description

This Alabama pecan bread recipe delivers rich, buttery flavor with toasted pecans and a tender crumb – a true taste of Southern comfort in every slice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ⅓ cup melted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1½ cups fresh Alabama pecans, roughly chopped
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ¼ cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan. Line the bottom with parchment paper.
  2. Toast 1½ cups chopped pecans on a baking sheet in oven for 8-10 minutes, stirring once.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Make a well in the center.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk milk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and honey until smooth.
  5. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Fold until just combined – batter should be lumpy.
  6. Fold in toasted pecans and chocolate chips if using. Reserve 2 tablespoons pecans for topping.
  7. Pour batter into loaf pan. Combine brown sugar, reserved pecans, and melted butter for topping. Sprinkle on top.
  8. Bake 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Always toast pecans for enhanced flavor. Avoid overmixing the batter to keep the bread tender.
